Author Spotlight: L. Mertz

    Review By: Unknown Genre: »

Today I have the pleasure of interviewing L. Mertz, the author of the A Muse Inspired Love Series.

What name(s) do you write under? What helped you decide what name(s) to publish under?

I have a pen name of L. Mertz

    Where are you from?

I’m born and raised in Maryland.

What is the name of your most recent book and where can we find it?

My most recent book is called Finding Her Muse it’s available on Amazon, Nook, and Kobo.

What's your latest release about? What genre would you consider it?

Finding Her Muse is about Mary and Landon. She’s an Indie Author and he’s a college student and pee wee league soccer coach. They meet when Mary goes out for a girl’s night and then he is at her daughter’s soccer practice.

The book is really about their trials as an older woman with a younger man and it also touches on a few subjects of bullying too.

I consider this book a contemporary romance.

What or who inspired you to start writing?

Not one person or thought has inspired me. I am one of those people that writes down their dreams. I had a dream and kept having it over and over so I told a friend about it and she was like “That would be a cool book.” So away I went and wrote a book.

Who are your biggest literary influences?

Wow. I have a few favorites, Kate Perry is a big one. I would love to meet her. Another would be Alessandra Torre her stories always throw you for a loop. I love both of these women’s writing styles and they are very different.

    When did you start writing?

I’ve always written. Growing up I loved when we had to do a research project and write about it. So I’ve been writing as long as I can remember.

Do you work with a single publisher, multiple publishers or do you self-publish?

    I am strictly self-publish.

Do you write full-time or do you have another career right now?

I can’t write full time. I have a job in the Physical Therapy department of a doctor’s office.

What are the tips you would give other aspiring authors as they set out on their journey to becoming a published author?

Research. Research everything and anything you can about writing and self-publishing. Also find a good proof reader and editor.

What is the biggest hurdle you've had to overcome to get to this point?

I don’t think that I’ve had a hurdle as of yet. The hardest thing is getting your name out there and developing relationships with other authors and bloggers. Everyone needs to support everyone. I believe.

How did you decide on what cover art to use?

I go with my gut but I also ask my close friends that help me when it comes to bringing my stories to the public.

How did you decide what genre you wanted to write in?

I wrote what I read. I wanted to put my own version of a love story out there and I have.

Do you have any blog tours or upcoming events we should know about?

    Not at this time.

What projects are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on my fourth book in the Muse Inspired Love Series. Then I’m going to try and finish up my first book in a sports romance series.
