Interview: Jesse Giles Christiansen

Please give a warm welcome back to Jesse Giles Christiansen (@JesseGilesChris)!

Jesse, welcome back to the blog. It's always good to have you and thank you for stopping by today to share some exciting news about your upcoming new release!

Thank you! Great to be on your blog again!

From the books I have read/am reading and the synopsis of the others you have for sale on Amazon it appears that GOTH TOWN is a different direction from your normal style of writing.

Goth Town is still literary fiction, but told in an informal, free, lyrical style. Through hard work and feedback from fellow authors, publishers, and book reviewers, I've been making my writing more "athletic" and with more of my own natural voice. I feel that Goth Town is my writing at the best of its game!

How did GOTH TOWN come about and what's it about? Where did you find your inspiration?

Goth Town is an idea I've been playing with for years ... about a town where Christmas does not only not exist, but it's a crime to even think about it. I was inspired to write about what people's lives would be like living in such a place. Could they love? Would they have any hope at all? Also, I've always dreamed of writing a Christmas story the likes of A Christmas Carol, one that I gifted personally to my close friends and family (much like "The Greatest Gift," which ended up being bought and made into "It's a Wonderful Life."

How did you juggle everything you've been doing - being an author, entertainer, musician, getting ready to relocate to another country and everything else and still provide your readers with an amazing quality read? When do you find time to write?

Writing is something you have to make time for ... or you're not a writer. I follow a schedule, and I always place writing high on my priority list. Yes, I've juggled a lot this year, but staying organized has helped a lot. Insofar as songwriting goes, music is my escape to relieve stress ... so it's not really work; I write songs to relax and recover.

Your recent Facebook release event allowed you to pick your third and final "Bookworm for Life" who will receive signed copies for life. How has that worked out so far? Also, what have you learned since deciding to do that? Going back to the beginning would you have changed how you did it?

The Signed Paperbacks for Life prize has proved to be one of the best I ideas I feel I've ever had. Aside from the work of keeping up with the three winners for life (well worth it!), the benefits just keeping washing in. For example, these three avid readers are an active part of my author life. Their support and honest reviews help me to be a better author. They hold a mirror to me that says, "I want better and better books; I deserve them." And they do. They really do.

So, the next question that readers usually want to know is - What's next?

What's next? Yes, a great question! It appears I'll be staring the last book in the Captain Shelby Trilogy very soon. I'm also working on a historical thriller about the RMS Titanic, which I hope to also finish next year.

I really appreciate you allowing me to be part of your tour! I'm glad to have you anytime and honored that you've stopped by so many times to take valuable time out of your day to spend it here!

Thanks so much for having me! You're the best!

    SYNOPSIS

The memory you save could be your very own.

Goth Town is a place without Christmas. In fact, it's a crime to even think of such a thing. Jake Rayner has a vision, one that has brought him to the Recalibration Machine twenty-nine times. When the Overseers plan to reenact an old law, in order to protect what he believes to be the truth, Jake is forced to be the first to boldly venture beyond the town’s shrouding fog.

I am very excited to announce that as of this posting, I was chosen as the third and final "Bookworn for Life" and I couldn't be more excited!
