Please welcome Miranda Lynn (@MirandaLynnBks)!
What
name(s) do you write under? If you write under a pseudonym, what
helped you choose that name?
I write under the name Miranda Lynn as my actual last name is long
and doesn’t flow well off the tongue. I had an author friend help
me pick the name which is actually just my first and middle name.
What
is the name of your most recent or upcoming release?
Destiny
Finds Her is the latest release, the next in the series has yet to be
titled.
Can
you give us an idea of what the story is about?
It’s
about a girl who finds out she’s not who she thought she was. She
has to travel back in time, accept herself and decide to either use
her powers to save the clan of the man she loves or to turn her back
on it all.
What
genre is it?
Time
Travel Romance
What
is your writing process? Do you use an outline, fly by the "seat
of your pants" or some other method?
I
am a pantser for sure. I write when inspired or when my characters
are most active.
Did
you use a graphic artist to create your cover art? If so, what helped
you decide on the cover(s) of your books?
I
did use an artist, Brandy with Sister Sparrow Graphics created my
cover and I found her through a recommendation of a friend. I have to
say she created exactly what I wanted with very little input from me.
I knew that I needed to keep it simple yet eye catching so I focused
on a few key points and let her do her creative genius.
What
have you learned on your journey from writing to publishing that you
think should be passed along to those interested?
Having a professional editor is extremely important and a group of
people you trust as beta readers to catch what you and your editor
missed.
I
know some authors set writing goals, such as so many words per day.
Do you set any goals for your stories?
I
try to set goals, but it usually doesn’t work out well for me. I
don’t write well under pressure. I have to let the creativity flow
when it wants. I do try to write every day but I don’t require a
certain amount of words each day. It helps having multiple projects
to work on so that something moves forward each day.
Do
you have a favorite character of your own and what makes him/her your
favorite?
That
changes with what I am writing, right now I have a character that I
am in love with in a new series I am working on. His name is
Sebastian and is inspired by Shemar Moore. He’s cocky, broody, and
will soon get the chip knocked of his shoulder and his world turned
upside down. You will find out more about him soon.
Do
your characters "talk" to you?
Yes
they do, and sometimes I am just an observer to their conversations
with each other. Each story is a movie in my head, though there are
days that my characters direct my writing. Those days are usually my
most productive. I am lucky that my husband understand the “voices”
in my head are real to me, and not a reason to commit me to the
asylum.
Who
controls a story when you write; you, your characters or a
combination?
It’s
a combination.
How
can we connect with you?
